While a celiac diagnosis sets you spinning, the celiac community is there to point you in the right direction. I have found the term, “celiac community” fairly frequently in my quest to understand the how-tos of living well with celiac disease in our household. I am grateful for the organizations, the authors, bloggers, vloggers, cooks, manufacturers, and especially those individuals who readily share their experiences.
In many ways, this site was inspired by an email message – excerpted below – sent by a colleague whose wife has celiac and wanted to help ease our gf transition.
When acclimating to this new way of eating and living, it makes a huge difference to have access to this shared community. Below are a few resources I find helpful.
Organizations:
- Celiac Disease Foundation: https://celiac.org/
- Gluten Intolerance Group: https://gluten.org/
- Beyond Celiac: https://www.beyondceliac.org/
- Italian Celiac Association https://www.celiachia.it/
Books & Authors:
- The Everything Guide to Living Gluten-Free by Jeanine Friesen.
I checked this book out from the library and knew I needed to own a copy. This family-friendly resource is filled with vital content helpfully presented and easy to understand. - Gluten Free Girl by Shauna M. Ahern. I devoured this memoir just weeks following Grace’s diagnosis. Her experiences mirrored many of Grace’s and provided a glimpse of the health and vitality to come from living gf.
