Cooking has been central to our lives. For every promotion, holiday, celebration, success and sorrow, we cook. Our travels often find us exploring new places and cuisines, searching for the rare new ingredient and often stopping for what we jokingly refer to as “salads of great character.”
As a toddler, my daughter Grace sat on the counter and was captain of the stand mixer. She was my go-to at every dinner party, community event, and celebration. At catering events, she passed appetizers. When I worked for KitchenAid, she even led a couple of demonstrations.
Grace’s specialties were beautiful, delicious desserts. By the time she was in high school, her desserts garnered high prices at school auctions. She began making custom desserts to order, so when the fickle finger of fate raised itself in the spring of 2019, we couldn’t believe it.
